Choose Chiropractic First

Research, research, research!

We strongly recommend you to take the time required to find out how the chiropractor would manage similar complaints and to confirm that their practices are coherent with current research and health guidelines. When in doubt, always ask for academic references.

Square One Active Recovery is different from other healthcare providers in Singapore for three main reasons:

1) We focus on movements and exercises. 90-95% of our treatment is exercise or movement-based. Our exercises are unique to each patient’s presentation and they change from week to week depending on how you respond. As such, there are no exercise sheets or protocol we follow.

It is also common for our patients to be sore for the first 3-4 weeks due to the exercises we prescribed. However, over 80% of our patients leave our care within four to seven visits. This is results most clinics in Singapore cannot match.

2) We focused on goals rather than what you feel. This means we pegged the success of your treatment to something you desire. This can be return to sports (back to playing tennis), being able to sit for longer periods with less soreness, being able to serve a faster tennis surf, etc.

3) We are strictly evidence-based. So there’s no “it might work because it worked for most of our patients” and the likes. Everything we do our practice is based on current clinical guidelines OR supported by a high quality randomised control trial. So we don’t do things like stretching, foam rolling because there is no good research to support that they have any long term positive effects.

Chiropractic is a profession concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.

Chiropractic treatment and and chirotherapy are common terms used to describe treatments provided by a chiropractor. They can include modalities from neuromuscular re-education and therapeutic exercises to dry needling and IASTM.

True chiropractic care is about getting our patients pain and injury free without the use of pain killers or surgery.

A branch of Chiropractic focused on providing care in the conservative management, rehabilitation and performance optimisation of the musculoskeletal system for athletes.

Sports chiropractors help with injury management and sports performance (i.e. how to run faster).

A chiropractic adjustment, also referred to as spinal manipulation, is the manoeuvre performed by chiropractors where a controlled, quick (high velocity) impulse is applied to a joint through a manual thrust. While patients often report positive changes in symptoms immediately after treatment, the relief is often short term.

As of six months ago, Square One no longer offers chiropractic adjustment as a core treatment. More details in the link above.

Yes! Chiropractic is recognised as one of the safest, non-invasive therapies for management of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. We help you management your pain without the use of pain killers or surgery.

While Chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no healthcare treatment is completely free from potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, is very small.

No. While we do accept referrals from doctors and other healthcare providers, no referral letter is needed to book an appointment.

No. We work with your fitness capacity and pain tolerance to develop a treatment plan that works best for you. However, it will be in your best interest to do any home exercises as prescribed to optimise your care.

We provide patient education, and use shared decision making, therapeutic alliance, patient empowerment, reassurance, patient-centered communication, patient-centered practice to increase self-efficacy and activity.

We also provide therapeutic (patient-centred) exercises within an evidence-based biopsychosocial model of health and illness to help people achieve pain-free living.

Your First Chiropractic Visit

Our address is 13A Bukit Pasoh Road.

If you are coming by MRT, alight at Outram Park Station. It is from a two-minute walk from exit H (Dorsett Hotel) at the purple line.

If you are coming from Tanjong Pagar, we are a two-minute walk from Pinnacle @ Duxton via Duxton Plain Park (or approximately five minutes from the 100AM building).

Most of the time, no.

For non-traumatic musculoskeletal conditions, an X-ray is usually not required. We follow radiographic guidelines and do not take unnecessary, routine X-ray of our patients. Your health is paramount to us!

Most of our clients start to notice a change by the second and third visit. Most achieve full recovery within four to seven visits depending on the condition and severity of the symptoms.

We are one of the only chiropractic clinics in Singapore to deliver such quick results. This allows us to not sell packages.

The recommended chiropractic adjustment frequency for most chiropractic clinics in Singapore is 3 times per week for a month or more.

Square One doesn’t subscribe to the same model of care. We see our clients between four to seven visits across a three month period depending on how you respond to our treatment.

Yes. We strongly advocate for our patients to keep active (and exercise) within their fitness capacity and pain tolerance.

In fact, 100% of our patients receive an exercise program at the end of their first visit.

If in doubt, seek professional advice from your preferred healthcare provider.

Most likely, not.

90-95% of what we do is exercise or movement-based. In some cases, we utilise manual therapy such as chiropractic adjustments or dry needling as adjunct therapy.

No. Alignment and your spine being out of alignment is an urban myth. You can read more about it at our blog post on posture.

Many Singapore chiropractors use alignment to upsell chiropractic sessions. There is no research to show that there are benefits to improving alignment and posture.

Furthermore, chiropractic adjustments are simply not enough to change your alignment. To understand why, check out our blog post on chiropractic adjustments.

Chiropractic Price Information

While we do charge more per session, we provide higher quality care and offer more value than other chiropractors in Singapore.

  • Most of our patients typically spend 30-45 minutes with our chiropractors. At a discount chiropractic clinic, you would spend no more than 10 minutes with a chiropractor for $75-$120.

In real terms, you would be paying $225 with a discount chiropractor to receive quality care similar to what we offer. Furthermore, you would be locked in for packages in excess of 80 sessions in order the “enjoy” the discounted rate.

“I didn't know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor. Since I've been in chiropractic, I've improved by leaps and bounds both mentally and physically."
