What happened to Zhanna Samsonova?
Zhanna Samsonova died at the age of 39 years old. While the official cause of death is unclear, her family and close friends blamed extreme veganism for her demise. Online reports suggested that she ate exclusively fruits and sunflower seed sprouts for the last four years. Other reports also mentioned she had not drunk any water for six years, choosing instead to drink fruit and vegetable juice.
Her mother said Samsonova died from a cholera-like infection, which was made worse by her restrictive diet. Some have claimed she died from starvation.
